Another Church in Need of a Pastor
I had the privilege to preach to the wonderful people of Rocky Point Baptist Church this morning. I was told by one member that the church itself was established shortly after the civil war. He went on to say that the church building used to face the opposite direction. When the road was relocated, one faithful member used timber logs and a team of mules to literally turn the building around. That story made me think of many other churches I know of that need to be “turned around.” However, the kind of turning they need can only be granted by the Spirit of God.
Thankfully, the people of Rocky Point seemed hungry for the Word of God, and that is a strong indication of spiritual health. But they do need our prayers. Recently, their pastor resigned after serving faithfully up to the age of 77. Pray that God will send them someone who will faithfully lead them into the future. Pray for God’s wisdom to be made clear for them and for us. The need for a new generation of godly leaders to be raised up is more urgent than ever.
If you would like to hear the message from this morning, Rocky Point has graciously allowed us to use their YouTube recording of the service. The message starts right at the 20:00 minute mark if you want to skip ahead.
